QA/Test + BOM & Technical Document Engineer

  • Hanoi / Ho Chi Minh City
  • Full-time, In-office

Job Description:
VinRobotics, based in Hanoi, Vietnam, is advancing robotics technology with innovative smart actuators designed for humanoid and collaborative robot applications. We seek a meticulous and experienced QA/Test Engineer to ensure superior quality, reliability, and performance of actuator systems through comprehensive mechanical and electrical testing. Your role will involve rigorous validation, performance benchmarking, endurance testing, and continuous collaboration with the R&D team to refine and improve actuator designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed test plans and protocols for validating electronic product and component: function, performance, reliability, and safety, focusing on torque, speed, temperature, power consumption, vibration, noise, ...

  • Define clear acceptance criteria, tolerances, and measurement standards aligned with industry best practices and internal specifications.

  • Design, configure, and operate advanced test rigs, including dynamometers, torque sensors, thermal chambers, data acquisition systems, and customized measurement setups.

  • Calibrate and maintain test equipment, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and reliability of test results.

  • Conduct comprehensive performance tests including dynamic torque measurement, thermal characterization, efficiency evaluations, vibration analysis, and EMC pre-compliance testing.

  • Perform endurance and accelerated life-cycle testing to validate actuator longevity, durability, and robustness under realistic operational conditions.

  • Identify and document detailed root causes for performance deviations, failure modes, and reliability issues.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets from tests using statistical tools and software (Python, MATLAB, Excel).

  • Generate detailed and insightful test reports, clearly communicating findings, trends, and actionable recommendations to R&D teams.

  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, validate design improvements, and ensure rapid iteration cycles.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for quality processes, test methodologies, and validation standards.

  • Support activities related to industry-standard compliance and certification (CE, EMC, UL), including coordination with external test labs and certification bodies.

  • Create, organize, and manage comprehensive engineering documentation, including Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), datasheets, assembly instructions, test protocols, and user manuals.

  • Ensure all technical documents are accurate, up-to-date, clearly structured, and easily accessible by internal stakeholders and production teams.

  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed and accurate BOMs for complex actuator assemblies, including mechanical components, electronic parts, sensors, motors, and sub-assemblies.

  • Track engineering changes, revisions, and variant configurations within the BOM, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency across versions.

  • Coordinate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and product documentation updates.

  • Facilitate timely reviews, approvals, and notifications of documentation changes to all relevant departments and suppliers.

  • Work closely with engineering (mechanical, electrical, software), quality assurance, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to capture, update, and disseminate critical technical information.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for documentation accuracy and completeness across engineering and production departments.

  • Maintain a robust configuration management system, ensuring version control, traceability, and easy retrieval of design documents, drawings, and records.

  • Implement and manage best practices in document control, data integrity, and quality management compliance.

  • Ensure technical documentation aligns with internal quality standards, ISO requirements, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CE, RoHS, EMC, REACH).

  • Support audits and reviews by maintaining comprehensive, structured, and traceable documentation archives.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improving document management workflows, version control practices, and information accessibility.

  • Implement and enhance documentation processes to streamline information flow and improve project efficiency and quality.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related technical fields.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in testing, validation, and quality assurance for electromechanical, robotics, or automation products.

  • Skilled in operating precision measurement and testing instruments (torque sensors, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, dynamometers, thermal measurement devices).

  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis, statistical quality control (SPC), and reporting using software tools (Python, MATLAB, Excel).

  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing, documentation management, and BOM creation.

  • Expertise in managing engineering changes, configuration control, and product lifecycle management processes.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical testing standards, reliability engineering methodologies, and product validation processes.

  • Excellent analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and structured problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience specifically with power systems, actuator systems, servo motors, robotic joints, or precision electromechanical assemblies.

  • Experience in conducting EMC pre-compliance tests and familiarity with electromagnetic compatibility standards (IEC 61000, CE directives).

  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) software systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Windchill, Arena, Siemens Teamcenter).

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical CAD models, and technical datasheets.

  • Familiarity with environmental and reliability testing standards (MIL-STD-810, IEC 60068, …).

  • Experience with developing automated test setups, scripting test procedures, and test automation software (LabVIEW, Python scripting).

  • Knowledge of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DoE), and accelerated life testing methodologies.

  • Background in working with international certification agencies and standards compliance processes.
