[FASD] Automation Engineer - Industrial Robotics

About the Role
We are seeking Automation Engineers (junior and senior levels) to drive the implementation, commissioning, and optimization of robotic automation systems in industrial environments, requiring hands-on experience in robot programming, system integration, and production deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Program and configure industrial robots (ABB, KUKA) for industrial applications
Commission robotic automation systems from installation through production handover
Perform robot teaching, trajectory optimization, and cycle time optimization
Integrate vision systems (Cognex or similar) with robot controllers for guided operations
Establish communication protocols between robots and peripheral devices (PLCs, sensors, controllers)
Create PLC programs using Ladder Logic and STL, and configure HMI systems
Conduct system testing including I/O verification, safety validation, and debugging
Optimize process parameters for welding, gluing, and other applications
Troubleshoot system issues and provide production support
Train factory engineers and technicians on system operation and maintenance
Develop standard operating procedures and technical documentation
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
2-5 years of hands-on experience with industrial robot programming and commissioning
Expert-level proficiency in ABB (RAPID) and KUKA (KRL) robot programming
Strong experience in at least one of robotic applications: pick-and-place, welding, gluing, assembly
Proficiency in PLC programming (Ladder Logic, STL) and HMI development
Experience with vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) including programming and integration
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC-UA)
Demonstrated track record of commissioning automation systems in manufacturing environments
Willing to travel to customer sites for commissioning and support
Preferred Skills
Experience with additional robot brands (Universal Robots, Fanuc, Yaskawa)
Familiarity with robot simulation software (RobotStudio, KUKA.Sim, RoboDK)
Knowledge of collaborative robot applications and safety standards
Experience with advanced welding processes and parameter optimization
Understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts and IIoT integration
Robot programming certifications (ABB, KUKA)
Multi-site or international project experience
