[FASD] Senior Robotics Team Lead - Manipulation

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Robotics-AI Team Lead to spearhead our Robotic AI project. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in robotic manipulation and computer vision, combined with strong leadership abilities to guide a cross-functional team through all project phases from conceptualization to deployment. This role includes significant mentorship responsibilities to develop junior talent and foster career growth within the team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of robotic-AI solutions in an industrial environment
Oversee system architecture design for integrated perception, planning, and manipulation
Manage a team of robotics engineers, software developers, and system integrators
Establish technical requirements, milestones, and performance metrics
Drive innovation in 3D perception and grasp planning algorithms
Collaborate with product management and operations teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements
Evaluate and select appropriate hardware components and software frameworks
Guide the development of robust testing procedures and quality assurance protocols
Present technical progress and roadmaps to executive leadership
Create personalized development plans for junior team members
Provide regular technical mentoring sessions and code reviews
Identify growth opportunities and stretch assignments for team development
Establish training programs for robotics fundamentals and advanced techniques
Required Qualifications
MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in industrial robotics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
Extensive knowledge of 3D perception systems (structured light, stereo vision, LiDAR)
Proven expertise in object pose estimation and tracking algorithms
Strong background in motion planning and grasp synthesis techniques
Experience with ROS, OpenCV, PCL, and similar robotics/vision frameworks
Proficiency in C++/Python programming for real-time robotic systems
Demonstrated success delivering robotic manipulation systems in production environments
Experience with industrial robot manipulators (e.g., ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots)
Proven track record of coaching and mentoring junior engineers
Experience creating and executing technical training curricula
Preferred Skills
Experience with bin-picking applications specifically
Knowledge of deep learning approaches for robotic perception and grasping
Familiarity with simulation environments (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, etc.)
Background in sensor fusion techniques and multi-modal perception
Understanding of industrial safety standards for collaborative robotics
Experience with PLC integration and industrial communication protocols
Project management certifications or formal training
Teaching or instructional experience in robotics or related fields
Experience with career development frameworks and progression planning
