About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Robotics Team Lead to pioneer our advanced robotic assembly program. The ideal candidate will bring comprehensive expertise in precision manipulation, force-torque sensing, and machine learning approaches for skill transfer. This role requires a technical visionary who can lead a diverse team in developing intelligent assembly systems that combine human-like dexterity with industrial-grade reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of robotic assembly solutions that match or exceed human precision
Architect intelligent systems integrating perception, force control, and adaptive planning
Oversee the implementation of learning from demonstration (LfD) frameworks to capture human expertise
Develop strategies for transferring complex assembly skills from human operators to robotic systems
Direct a multidisciplinary team of engineers across perception, control, and AI domains
Establish technical requirements and performance metrics for precision assembly tasks
Drive innovation in force-torque sensing applications and compliant manipulation
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify high-value assembly automation opportunities
Guide the development of robust validation procedures for assembled products
Create comprehensive training programs for technical team development
Mentor junior engineers and establish clear career progression pathways
Present technical progress and capabilities to executive leadership and customers
Required Qualifications
MS or PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
5+ years of experience in robotic manipulation, with at least 3 years in leadership roles
Extensive knowledge of force-torque sensing and compliant control strategies
Strong background in precision robotic assembly applications
Proven expertise in computer vision and 3D perception for part recognition
Experience with learning from demonstration techniques and imitation learning
Proficiency in programming for real-time control systems (C++/Python)
Demonstrated success implementing robotic assembly systems in production environments
Experience with industrial manipulators and end-effector integration
Track record of coaching and developing engineering talent
Preferred Skills
Experience with Programming by Demonstration (PbD) interfaces
Knowledge of reinforcement learning for robotic skill acquisition
Background in tactile sensing and haptic feedback systems
Expertise in contact state estimation and assembly sequence planning
Understanding of industrial assembly standards and quality assurance
Experience with ROS, MoveIt, and similar robotics frameworks
Familiarity with digital twin approaches for assembly simulation
Experience developing custom grippers and tooling for specialized assembly
Teaching or instructional background in robotics or manufacturing
