We are seeking an Operator Interface Engineer to design and implement cutting-edge interfaces for robots. Your work will enable seamless interaction between human operators and robots, leveraging 3D virtual reality (VR) and 2D GUI technologies. This role is pivotal in creating intuitive and reliable operator interfaces for advanced robotic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, test, and deploy operator interfaces for robots, including immersive 3D VR and traditional 2D GUI interfaces.
Develop an avatar-like operator interface to provide operators with an immersive experience, simulating the robot's perspective.
Integrate sensing, perception, and autonomy modules to enable operators to function in supervisory roles.
Create mission-level interfaces for interacting with autonomous robots, addressing situations requiring human intervention.
Apply modern software engineering practices to deliver high-quality, well-tested software.
Evaluate and iterate on operator interface designs to meet robot requirements and performance standards.
Collaborate with the SI team to continuously improve operator interface functionality.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in implementing, testing, and deploying operator interfaces for robotic systems.
Familiarity with various VR and GUI frameworks, e.g., VR Interaction Framework and Auto Hand, etc.
Demonstrated ability to write high-quality, well-tested software for operator interfaces.
Strong understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of operator interface design.
Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments requiring creative exploration and problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
Passion for building robots and advancing robotics technologies.
Experience deploying real-world operator interfaces for commercial applications.
A publication record related to operator interfaces or human-robot interaction.
