Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Power Electronic)

Job Description:
VinRobotics, based in Hanoi, Vietnam, is developing advanced, high-performance smart actuators for humanoid and collaborative robots. We seek an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design, validation, and optimization of sophisticated electronics, including motor driver boards, embedded sensors, power distribution circuits, and EtherCAT communication modules. This role is crucial for ensuring actuator reliability, efficiency, and seamless electromechanical integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design high-performance PCB assemblies for actuator motor drivers (PMSM), sensor interfaces, and EtherCAT communication circuits.

  • Develop comprehensive schematics, including power circuits (DC/DC converters, gate drivers), analog front-ends (current sensing, voltage measurement), and digital control interfaces (MCUs, DSPs, FPGA integration).

  • Optimize designs for thermal management, electrical noise reduction, and robust EMC compliance.

  • Support system-level testing, including torque output measurements, temperature profiling, and reliability tests to ensure actuator performance targets.

  • Work closely with embedded software engineers and mechanical design engineers to integrate electronic hardware seamlessly into actuator systems.

  • Maintain meticulous documentation, including detailed schematics, PCB layout files, component libraries, BoM management, test procedures, and technical reports.

  • Ensure design compliance with applicable industry standards (CE, RoHS, EMC directives) and support certification processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in designing and validating complex PCB assemblies, especially for motor control, power electronics, and embedded systems.

  • Proficiency in PCB design software (Altium Designer), with extensive experience in high-current, high-frequency PCB layout considerations.

  • Strong foundation in power electronics design, including switch-mode power supplies, gate drivers, MOSFET/IGBT selection, thermal management, and power circuit protection.

  • Hands-on experience with analog/digital mixed-signal design (sensor interfaces, signal conditioning, ADC/DAC circuits, low-noise amplifiers).

  • Familiarity with communication interfaces such as EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, I2C, RS485, BISS.

  • Demonstrated experience in EMC/EMI mitigation, grounding strategies, PCB shielding, and electrical noise management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with EMC design standards and mitigation methods.

  • Experience integrating EtherCAT hardware into robotic or automation systems.

  • Knowledge of FPGA integration and advanced digital design techniques for real-time systems.

  • Practical experience in design for manufacturing (DFM), including collaboration with contract manufacturers for high-volume or high-quality production.

  • Familiarity with electromechanical integration, actuator systems, robotics, or automation equipment.
