Role Overview
We are seeking Senior Robotics Control Engineers to lead the development of high-performance controllers for humanoid robots, encompassing whole-body control, balance and locomotion stabilization, compliant manipulation, and other real-time control tasks. You will collaborate with experts across control, dynamics, planning, and perception to architect and implement advanced control frameworks that enable dynamic, robust, and adaptive humanoid motion. This is a key opportunity to shape and deliver cutting-edge control solutions for next-generation robotic systems bridging research and product deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implementation of controllers for robots
- Design and develop C++ control algorithms and create their Python bindings to support locomotion and manipulation tasks for robots.
- Solve advanced control problems, including whole-body control, adaptive control for variations in the robot model and environment, and robust control to handle disturbances arising during operation, manipulation, and interaction with the environment.
Design and implementation of state estimators
- Modeling robot models, calibrate robot kinematics, Identify system parameters.
- Design and develop state-of-the-art state estimation algorithms for dynamic robots or other robots, including.
Integration, supervision, and enhancement of control performance
- Integrate and deploy controllers and state estimators on software platforms, conduct simulations in physics-based environments, and perform experiments on real robots.
- Conduct testing, evaluation, and analysis of control performance and state estimation performance, and propose approaches to improve the effectiveness and robustness of control algorithms for robots operating in simulated and real-world conditions.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to analyze and address related issues (Simulation, Integration, Navigation, and Hardware).
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in decision-making on methods to improve control quality and ensure the stability of robotic systems.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Robotics, Control Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of robot dynamics, nonlinear control, optimization-based control, and real-time systems.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python, with extensive experience in ROS/ROS2 and real-time control frameworks.
- Proven experience with MuJoCo, Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or equivalent physics simulators for testing and validation.
- Strong knowledge in state estimation, sensor fusion, and system identification.
- Demonstrated experience deploying controllers on physical robotic platforms involving torque-controlled actuators, IMUs, and force/torque sensors.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make strategic technical decisions and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience developing and deploying control systems for legged or humanoid robots.
- Research or development background in Model Predictive Control (MPC), optimal control, adaptive control, or learning-based control.
- Strong publication or project record demonstrating advanced work in robot control, dynamics, or state estimation.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and DDS-based communication frameworks.
- Experience leading technical initiatives or small control teams in robotics projects.
