Your work will directly impact robot operation, data collection, and real-world applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and own the teleoperation system for robot and other robots, including defining the technical roadmap and identifying use cases.

  • Evaluate various teleoperation strategies, including motion capture, VR, haptics, and puppeteering, to identify optimal solutions.

  • Design and implement teleoperation systems for whole-body manipulation and dexterous finger control.

  • Develop real-time retargeting algorithms to enable robust, intuitive teleoperation.

  • Design scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly with autonomy, controls, and testing systems.

  • Oversee data collection operations for multiple applications, including:

    • Collecting human demonstrations for imitation learning.

    • Evaluating prototype robot designs for real-world use cases.

    • Supporting remote operation of a robot fleet.

  • Utilize modern software engineering techniques to deliver high-quality, well-tested, real-time software.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in C++/Python for real-time systems development.

  • Experience in building high-rate VR/haptic teleoperation systems with force feedback for manipulation in real robot environments.

  • Solid background in API design, developing reusable and scalable code for cross-team use.

  • Ability to thrive in high-paced environments requiring exploration and rapid iteration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A track record, e.g. publications or proven delivered industry projects, in robot teleoperation development and deployment.

  • Experience collecting teleoperation data for imitation learning applications.

  • Familiarity with 3D printing for rapid, iterative hardware design.

  • Passion for building robots and advancing teleoperation technologies.
