We are seeking a Robot Teleoperation Engineer to lead the development of advanced teleoperation systems for robots. This role focuses on designing intuitive and robust teleoperation solutions for whole-body manipulation, dexterous control, and seamless integration with autonomy, controls, and testing systems. Your work will directly impact robot operation, data collection, and real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and own the teleoperation system for robot and other robots, including defining the technical roadmap and identifying use cases.
Evaluate various teleoperation strategies, including motion capture, VR, haptics, and puppeteering, to identify optimal solutions.
Design and implement teleoperation systems for whole-body manipulation and dexterous finger control.
Develop real-time retargeting algorithms to enable robust, intuitive teleoperation.
Design scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly with autonomy, controls, and testing systems.
Oversee data collection operations for multiple applications, including:
Collecting human demonstrations for imitation learning.
Evaluating prototype robot designs for real-world use cases.
Supporting remote operation of a robot fleet.
Utilize modern software engineering techniques to deliver high-quality, well-tested, real-time software.
Required Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in C++/Python for real-time systems development.
Experience in building high-rate VR/haptic teleoperation systems with force feedback for manipulation in real robot environments.
Solid background in API design, developing reusable and scalable code for cross-team use.
Ability to thrive in high-paced environments requiring exploration and rapid iteration.
Preferred Qualifications:
A track record, e.g. publications or proven delivered industry projects, in robot teleoperation development and deployment.
Experience collecting teleoperation data for imitation learning applications.
Familiarity with 3D printing for rapid, iterative hardware design.
Passion for building robots and advancing teleoperation technologies.
